At first I thought the silhouette of the ring ropes where symbolic of bars giving us a clue that he is somehow trapped in the ring or like a caged animal. It's a striking image of a man alone, which De Niro remains throughout the movie. </p><p>After researching I realised the Director Martin Scorsese wanted Robert DeNiro’s Jake La Motta a coiled human animal, caged like a note on sheet music; fierce, balletic and balanced to its function. The ropes of the ring are framed like bars of music. Indeed, “give me a stage where this bull here can rage…that’s entertainment.” </p><p>I really like the idea of using the main character in the title sequence</p>simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16650471322603005263noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6684019048392373154.post-91753940997653614662009-08-24T07:05:00.000-07:002009-08-24T07:17:18.166-07:00oddysey in Rome<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxvr248qJUaqd8u9tmcGUWXzaz3-4jgmg4Z__Bs5QrUlvmn-bSE2uZRYg0eKeq13lyzUvR4zTJWKBRgo0WqXg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe>simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16650471322603005263noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6684019048392373154.post-68491280097605886422009-08-18T10:18:00.000-07:002009-08-18T10:36:11.866-07:00redone<p><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxzFU7xrmTV2E6X7FDLGI2wR9636-6D8Xf53eXT_g5drpHLrur5WPpcHE0EfkKGjSYdlW_K_Z9buusi2LI9' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></p><p>went back to some early work again and gave it a clean up and added some text using a style I had seen in the film "TETRO" I created depth in the text by using multiple layers using blurs and and movement to create a dynamic stlye. also tried staying true to the angles created by my original work</p>simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16650471322603005263noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6684019048392373154.post-26568961348857722692009-08-04T08:09:00.000-07:002009-08-04T08:15:31.141-07:00<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxhJ_WbCX16Fqq9grbRejLE3E9C_-8OfEjagnPMK7YUfXI3XQensZf6xrm8OJm_7gYc1RbMLX98EGUoeTv_rg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe>simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16650471322603005263noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6684019048392373154.post-47098053953373132242009-08-04T06:20:00.000-07:002009-08-04T06:31:57.842-07:00crisscrosschaos<p><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dyfjGtsyO1K1Iepa_awKIIndqLGFSUGvkiH2W1SHofz9l5BZ0rl2SducWyYOCj98W7OuIIEyi4EWvkbfgn7cw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></p><p>using more layers and easy ease and drop shadow to give it a bit more depth. The piece is not over complicated and not the most exciting pace but it works seemlessly. Each time the beautiful text appears it looks like a gorgeous composition using or creating angles with the lights. The text and lights work pefectly together and the black and white with a very haunting soundtrack work really well. </p>simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16650471322603005263noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6684019048392373154.post-79548470244725196432009-07-29T17:42:00.000-07:002009-07-29T18:05:52.445-07:00Mutual Friends<p><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzu3he8KTIDbj1Tq51Ha7gIyE-vONC0S_cKCHshpb96kuQrcu0iMkyRV44RWM2tYQ0TXgtIJu3xhWhB4gYTjA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></p><p>From Craig Purkis at Liquid TV:</p><p>Representing the characters of this BBC drama, playful orange and white dots dance about a stark black background interacting with each other and giving us a clue as to how these two spar their way through each others lives.<br />Despite it’s 2D appearance the sequence was animated in Maya not only to give the animator greater control of the characters and environment, but also to add fluidity and personality to the spheres. I have learned better control of the camera creating a more dynamic look and wanted the HUD effect to be completely improved and to create a lot better atmosphere to be honest I changed most things<br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dy-vR5f4pAJU7Xv9zBozLhJZehKpY2zXoyqtt_uVOCNlKvfwEc6Wp9OvLQYxQcqlJWYcCiqK6hYx_Eicsj8VA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe>simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16650471322603005263noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6684019048392373154.post-65914220860361768562009-07-09T07:26:00.000-07:002009-07-12T15:48:51.546-07:00<p><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dy4c-PCCGXavU-oh4SsmfzVAlWDMpA9di-olqNNrn1-T_Qhbk7EUvrH4jg18owVUDLtS3XX2gP8txXytFBKIA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></p><p>A simple idea that I came up with but not so simple to do. I followed a few tutorials on After Effects to help me create the look and found that the presets <strong><em>wave world</em></strong> and <strong>caustics</strong> would let me generate what I was trying to create. Although it looks fairly linear I think with more time and taking it steps further I could create something more dynamic if I wanted to.</p>simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16650471322603005263noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6684019048392373154.post-71658565528781018092009-07-07T16:20:00.000-07:002009-07-12T15:49:24.524-07:00generating colors<p><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dysJKPDyOwM3BRhUsBSJSRkiNOGkxGtPqwxHCGf4Z-EDXb9Y1fFqwQDDXXe9j52EMY0Mb4cq6SK1BXv1rUVoQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></p><p>i got this idea from just looking at the colors used on a subway map and how different each destination has its own corresponding color. I just thought about creating 3-D lines of color on a journey and although I dont think it looks like they are on a journey like I had hoped I think it still has some style and actually reminds me of some adverts for <strong><em>Toonami </em></strong>previously looked at. think al look through them again. I used After Effects to create this short clip using plug-ins to help me refine a style. </p>simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16650471322603005263noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6684019048392373154.post-55617013746516210722009-07-01T16:13:00.000-07:002009-07-01T16:30:01.802-07:00personal colors<a href="http://www.quizmeme.com/color/quiz.php">www.quizmeme.com/color/quiz.php</a> <p>Took a color test I know there not real but they are fun and I quite like this idea of linking the colors to you on a personal level its a novel idea</p><div style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 2px solid; PADDING-RIGHT: 8px; BORDER-TOP: #000000 2px solid; PADDING-LEFT: 8px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 8px; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; WIDTH: 300px; PADDING-TOP: 8px; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 2px solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #cccccc"><table cellpadding="7" border="0"><tbody><tr><td valign="center" align="middle"><div style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 1px solid; WIDTH: 18px; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 1px solid; HEIGHT: 18px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #006633"></div></td><td valign="center" align="middle"><div style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 1px solid; WIDTH: 18px; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 1px solid; HEIGHT: 18px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #339900"></div></td><td valign="center" align="middle"><div style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 1px solid; WIDTH: 18px; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 1px solid; HEIGHT: 18px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #66cc33"></div></td><td valign="center" align="middle"><div style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 1px solid; WIDTH: 18px; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 1px solid; HEIGHT: 18px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #33ff00"></div></td><td valign="center" align="middle"><span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold;font-family:verdana,arial;font-size:20;color:#339900;" >GREEN</span></td></tr></tbody></table><p style="FONT-SIZE: 10px; COLOR: #000000; FONT-FAMILY: verdana, arial" align="justify">You are a very calm and contemplative person.
